BAPTO Amateur Weekend

The original amateur 5-player team trophy event.

Welcome to the 46th Annual BAPTO Amateur Pool Tournament

The iconic BAPTO amateur pool weekend is the UK’s longest established tournament, now in its 46th year!

Following the success of the double weekender in 2022, BAPTO are keeping to their new format with the popular 3-player NOVICE team event the weekend before the main BAPTO event. This will help free up more places for the original AMATEUR 5-player team trophy weekend, which still sells out in quick time.

The new ‘BAPTO Novice Weekend’ is aimed at lesser skilled or less experienced pub players, with no County A, International or Professionals allowed to enter. It follows the same popular double round robin format as the 5-player team trophy event, with 64 teams going through to the knockout stages on the Sunday.

The Speed Pool trophy proved to be great fun for those that entered and has now become a permanent fixture for both weekend events, with a fastest time trophy and separate head2head knockout trophy.

  • The top 2 teams from each group in the Saturday round robin stages will go through to the Sunday knockout stages, to give 32 teams in the Plate knockout and 32 teams in the Trophy knockout.
  • Teams will not be seeded and the ruthless race to 6 will remain, to help the lesser skilled teams progress further.
  • Blackball shootouts will decide teams that are tied on points in Sat group stages – frame difference will not be used. All teams to play at least 48 frames of pool before being knocked out.
  • The team entry fee remains at £100.
  • The weekend has a £18,000 prize fund, with a massive £2,000 cash prize for the Team Champions!
  • Men’s Singles pays down to the last 64, spreading more prize money to the lower ranking players.
  • Mixed Doubles and Ladies event – prize funds have been increased in both events!

We advise teams to register early to avoid disappointment.  To help avoid the website crashing, teams wanting to enter the main 5-Player Amateur Trophy should register on Sunday 7th May 2023 from 10am.

The 3-Player Novice teams are to register on Saturday 6th May 2023 from 10am.

Teams that fail to register can be added to a waiting list. Please contact us through Facebook or send a support message if you want to be added to the waiting list. Teams on the waiting list often get a place closer to the tournament date, when other teams drop out.
